Barbera d’Alba “Vigneto della Chiesa” D.O.C.
The grapes are cultivated on the north-eastern hill side, in the “Vigneto della Chiesa”. This Barbera Superiore matures in French oak barriques for 18 months. It is a wine with a strong personality, with complex bouquet and taste as well. Characterized by a concentrated purple colour, it reveals an intense perfume of wild berries, jam and oak, with a round and pervasive taste.
VINE: Barbera, vines located in the hamlet Castelletto of Monforte d’Alba, with north-eastern exposure.
SOIL: medium-textured soil with limestone and clay
HARVEST: hand-made, at the beginning of October
ALCOHOL: 14% by vol.
TOTAL ACIDITY: 5-6 g/l
FERMENTATION: seven-eight days in horizontal fermentation vessels with temperature control at 25-30°C
MATURATION: in French barriques for 18 months
COLOUR: concentrated purple red
PERFUME: intense, with notes of wild berries, jam and balanced oak
TASTE: round, pervasive, persistent, aftertaste with hints of brandied fruit.
